Our RESOMER® portfolio has been delivering safety, biocompatibility and supply security to companies with complex parenteral drug products for more than 30 years. In 2020, Evonik acquired the LACTEL® absorbable polymers portfolio from DURECT Corporation. These absorbable polymers have been defining polymer quality for decades and find application in numerous FDA-approved pharmaceutical products.

Both portfolios are 100% bioresorbable, completely metabolized by the body, and ideal for terminal sterilization. With a shelf life exceeding five years, RESOMER® and LACTEL® are highly suitable for use with small molecules, peptides, proteins and other substances. Both are supplied from modern, established manufacturing sites in the U.S. and Germany – ensuring extensive options for dual sourcing and supply security.

The RESOMER® standard catalog of parenteral excipients includes Poly (lactide) and Poly (lactide-co-glycolide) polymers with a variety of high and low molecular weights and monomer compositions which can be selected to help tune degradation times over durations of up to 18 months. RESOMER® stands for high quality, and the portfolio includes a selection of customizable options.

  • RESOMER® Select is the world’s leading brand of custom parenteral excipients. A range of characteristics can be tailored including monomers, polymer composition and microstructure, particle size distribution, end groups, molecular weight, and inherent viscosity (IV).
  • RESOMER® Precise enables extremely tight product specifications including the control of inherent viscosity to within narrow range of ≤ ± 0.02 dl/g, which equates to between four and ten times more precise than equivalent parenteral excipients.
  • RESOMER® Sterile is the first and only known sterile Poly (lactide-co-glycolide) (PLG) excipient for parenteral controlled release. Requiring no further sterilization, it creates options to streamline process steps for the aseptic manufacturing of parenteral drug products.
  • RESOMER® Zero is purified through a proprietary purification process that provides polymeric parenteral excipients with residual tin content of less than 1 ppm.

LACTEL® - meeting your need for price sensitive applications and small quantities

The LACTEL® portfolio includes over 20 standard Poly (lactide) and Poly (lactide-co-glycolide) polymers including ester terminated polymers, acid terminated polymers, and a glucose star polymer. For projects where lower cost bioresorbable polymers offer the best solutions, LACTEL® is your brand of choice. The broad range of standard LACTEL® products are available in small pack sizes with a 20 gram minimum order quantity. Our streamlined manufacturing processes ensure that, from start to finish, LACTEL® polymer quality is consistent from research to commercial scale with the same attributes and specifications.
